At Dearest Love Photography, we’re Jim & Kerri - a Worcestershire-based wedding photography duo capturing colourful, alternative love stories across the UK and beyond. Sophie and Dan hold a particularly special place in our hearts, and their celebration at The Shack Revolution in Hereford was one we’ll never forget.
What made this day even more meaningful was that it followed on from something truly incredible - just weeks earlier we had travelled to the USA to photograph their unforgettable Las Vegas wedding at Sure Thing Chapel. Photographing a Vegas wedding was genuinely a bucket-list dream for us, and Sophie and Dan made it come true. Being invited back to capture their UK celebration with family and friends was the icing on the cake.
Bringing Vegas to Hereford
Sophie and Dan kept the same vibrant aesthetic from their Vegas wedding for their UK celebration - bold, bright and beautifully fun. Think hot pinks, blush tones, and colourful details everywhere. Their style matched our photography perfectly: unique, alternative, joyful and full of personality.
One of our favourite details was Sophie’s bouquet, created by the incredible @petalheadflowers, Known for their beautifully brightly dyed dried florals, Petalhead also made Sophie’s Vegas bouquet. Because the flowers are preserved, Sophie was able to take the same bouquet to Las Vegas and bring it back for their Hereford celebration –-such a meaningful touch. We’ve worked with Petalhead many times over the years, so it was lovely to collaborate with a wonderful industry friend again.
Another brilliant element carried over from Vegas was their signage. The talented @daydreamer_creative_studio, created the banner Sophie and Dan used in Las Vegas - one side reading “Just Married” and the other showing “Las Vegas” with their wedding date. They brought it back with them to use again for photos and décor during their UK celebration.
Daydreamer also created a large ceremony backdrop banner reading “The Roses”, celebrating Sophie and Dan’s married surname. We work with Tanya at Daydreamer Creative regularly, so seeing her beautiful designs featured throughout the day was fantastic.
They also had disco balls everywhere-which ALWAYS sets a party vibe!
Vegas-Inspired Details
Sophie and Dan fully embraced their Vegas theme throughout the venue with some brilliant personal touches.
One of the most creative ideas was having some of the photographs we captured during their Las Vegas wedding printed onto playing cards. These were scattered across the reception tables and around the venue, giving guests a fun way to see moments from their Vegas ceremony while tying perfectly into the casino theme.
They also had casino chips for guests to exchange at the bar for a drink on them, which everyone absolutely loved. It was such a fun and interactive nod to Las Vegas that got guests straight into the party spirit.
Getting Ready at The Shack Revolution
Kerri arrived at The Shack Revolution early to capture those all-important opening details - venue shots, Sophie’s dress, and an epic colourful flat lay full of their wedding details.
Sophie actually got ready at the venue itself, in The Shack’s reception room which can be cleverly hidden away from guests using black dividing curtains. It made for such a relaxed and easy morning.
Her glam team were two brilliant suppliers we often see at Hereford weddings:
• Hair by @october.hair
• Makeup by @makeupbyamym
Both always do an incredible job and Sophie looked absolutely stunning.
Her outfit was unforgettable - a floor-length white off-the-shoulder dress paired with hot pink platform strappy heels. Dan matched the colourful vibe perfectly in an epic dusty pink suit paired with Vans trainers. Even better? These were the exact outfits they wore in Las Vegas too.
A Personal Ceremony
Guests began arriving at 2pm, ready for the 2:30pm blessing ceremony.
In one of the most personal touches of the day, their ceremony was conducted by a close friend who was also one of Dan’s groomsmen. It made the moment incredibly meaningful and relaxed, surrounded by all the people who mean the most to them.
After the ceremony we headed straight into confetti - and what a confetti moment it was! Sophie and Dan chose large round biodegradable confetti from @yourconfetti in pink, white and black. It looked incredible in photos and created the perfect celebratory atmosphere.
Family, Friends & Walt the Dog
Following confetti we captured family group photographs, making sure Sophie and Dan had those important memories with their nearest and dearest.
A very special guest also joined the photos - their adorable French Bulldog, Walt. Walt is such a character and means the world to Sophie and Dan. He’s also a gluten-intolerant little legend, which always makes us smile.
To make sure Walt could be part of the day without any stress, he was looked after by the wonderful Lottie from @pawsomewalkshereford, a brilliant service for couples who want their pets included in their wedding day.
Fun Wedding Party Photos
Next came some high-energy group photos with the bridesmaids and groomsmen, which were an absolute blast. Sophie and Dan’s friends fully embraced the fun, colourful vibe and the laughter never stopped.
Afterwards we explored the venue for couple portraits, making the most of The Shack Revolution’s quirky and vibrant features - including their iconic checkerboard wall, which made the perfect backdrop for their bold style.
Dinner, Cake, Baby Guinness & Vegas Vibes
At 4:30pm guests were seated for dinner with Sophie and Dan’s closest family and friends.
To kick off the reception, guests were also welcomed with Baby Guinness shots as they entered the room before finding their seats. It set such a fun, celebratory tone for the evening ahead.
Their cake was another highlight - created by the amazing @carascreativecakes. It was a kitsch Lambeth-style cake, perfectly matching their Vegas aesthetic. Even better, it was designed in claret and blue to represent Dan’s beloved Aston Villa.
The cake was cut between courses as it doubled as dessert - a fun twist that kept the celebrations flowing.
Evening Celebrations
At 7pm the evening guests arrived, and this part of the day was extra special for us because Jim was invited to join the evening celebrations alongside Kerri too - something we’re incredibly grateful for.
Once everyone had arrived, Sophie and Dan took to the dance floor for their first dance at 7:30pm, officially kicking off the party.
From that moment on the dancefloor was full - friends and family throwing shapes, celebrating love, and enjoying every second of the evening.
Origin Pizza rocked up and did their thing- the most AMAZING evening Pizzas!
A Day We’ll Always Treasure
Sophie and Dan’s wedding story is one we’ll never forget. Not only did they invite us to photograph their Las Vegas wedding, they trusted us again to capture their UK celebration with family and friends.
Over that time we didn’t just become their photographers - we became friends.
Sophie and Dan, we will always be grateful to you both for trusting us with your memories and for giving us the opportunity to photograph two of the most joyful celebrations we’ve ever experienced.
What an unforgettable adventure it’s been.
